Over the years, we’ve ramped up our in-house manufacturing, creating fantastic tents, rucksacks, sleeping bags, and camp beds, alongside custom bags and scout vests tailored just for you. And don’t forget about our skilled gunsmith, who’s on hand to service your firearms with precision – from stock making to repairing that pesky broken firing pin!

Excitingly, we've recently added a metalwork section that crafts everything from firearm cabinets to charcoal heaters, smokers, and camp chairs! At Feredays, we’re not just about gear; we’re passionate about preserving our beautiful environment. We collaborate closely with wildlife conservancies, professional hunters, and safari operators to ensure our frontline heroes have everything they need to protect and cherish the wilderness. Feredays History

The Beginning

In 1910 Ben Fereday opened Fereday & Sons (Pvt) Ltd. This first shop was located near the Elizabeth hotel that stands today on the corner of Julias Nyerere Way and Robert Mugabe, Harare, Zimbabwe

Building

In 1923 the new shop was build on Manica Road, now known as Robert Mugabe way in City Centre between Angwa Street and First streets. It remains the flagship to until 2002 when it was vacated by the then owners. The building however still stands the test of time as the City of Harare continues to evolve and change, marking it as one of Harare’s fines Historical Landmarks.

Growth

Leslie Fereday, son to Ben Fereday took over from his father, whom at the time was now a City Councilor. Lesley later became the Mayor or Salisbury and as he had no sons sold the business in 1954 to Jack and Harry Dawson

Establishment

Salisbury was thereafter the seat of the Southern Rhodesian (later Rhodesian) government and, between 1953 and 1963, the capital of the Central African Federation. It retained the name Salisbury until 1982 when it was renamed Harare on the second anniversary of Zimbabwe's independence from the United Kingdom.

Present Day

Nick and Carol Knill purchased Feredays from the Dawson’s in 1994 and had expanded the stock brands and supply chain well into the 2000s, having their head Office in Central Avenue in Harare.

Amongst many others, two gentlemen in particular worked under the Knills’ as salesman, both progressing to management over the years. Marshall Kavalo from February 1999 and Richard Bregger from April 2001. June 1st, 2015, the duo purchased Feredays from the Knill’s, becoming the 4th and current owners of Feredays as a joint partnership. Registered as Fereday Safari Company (Pvt) Ltd T/A Feredays. It retains workers from the past 30 years ensuring the trusted and well-known quality gunsmithing, canvas tailoring and general outdoor and adventure equipment specialists. Feredays continues its business as before, but now also moving along into the new age of on-line sales and marketing. Bringing the rest of the world closer to its door-step and ensuring long lasting partnership with its stakeholders from all over the world.
